ChevronTexaco,
headquartered in Calgary, is responsible for all exploration
and production activities in Canada. Its primary focus areas
are East Coast Canada offshore exploration activities, mature
producing areas in Western Canada and new opportunities in Northern
Canada/Beaufort/Mackenzie, as well as the Athabasca Oil Sands
Project in Northern Alberta.
Chevron
was a participant with Shell Canada Limited in an extensive
(approximately 4,500 km2) 3D seismic survey offshore Nova Scotia
in 2000. The data from this survey, which covers a substantial
portion of three large deepwater exploration licenses in which
Chevron holds a one-third interest, will be used to firm up
possible drilling locations planned for 2002 and 2003.
As operator
of Exploration License No. 2359 off the coast of Nova Scotia,
Chevron is in the early planning stages for drilling a single
exploration well there. No decision to proceed with the drilling
of this well will be made until approximately mid-2001. The
well may or may not be drilled, and proposed times are subject
to change.
