| Expression of Interest Single Point of Contact Reference: SPC 1020/01 BIDS Category: Closing Date: February 23, 2001 Use this reference number on all correspondence: SPC 1020/01 Issue Date: January 26, 2001 December 1, 2000, marked the beginning of a new joint venture that combines the technology and expertise of two seismic leaders. Geco-Prakla, a division of Schlumberger; and Western Geophysical, a division of Baker Hughes have joined forces to create WesternGeco Canada Limited. The Western Geco Canadian Marine Operations will function from offices in both Mount Pearl, Newfoundland and Halifax, Nova Scotia. With work anticipated in the Newfoundland, Nova Scotia and Saint-Pierre et Miquelon offshore areas, we are requesting expressions of interest from companies capable of supplying the services described below. All potential suppliers to Western Geco will be required to comply with all rules and regulations as put forth and governed by the Canada-Newfoundland Offshore Petroleum Board, the Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board and the governing bodies of Saint Pierre et Miquelon with respect to employment and industrial benefits reporting. SCOPE Single Point of Contact between seismic operations and the fisheries or other marine interests in accordance with Canada-Newfoundland Offshore Petroleum Board guidelines. Functions of this entity shall include: &Mac183; Documented locations of all vessels for each operator on a daily basis via vessel communication. &Mac183; Liaison between collective operators and other marine users via Notices to Mariners and Fishers to mitigate potential interference. &Mac183; Personal contacts with fishers who claim loss or damage associated with survey operations. &Mac183; Implement a program for the assessment and settlement of any loss or damage claims that are believed to be associated with survey operations. &Mac183; Provide seismic operators with standardized fishing gear/vessel incident report forms. &Mac183; Maintaining a toll-free line. &Mac183; Up to date information about the locations of seismic activities and fishing activities. &Mac183; Active in fisheries organizations. &Mac183; Experience in fisheries compensation planning and implementation.
