Marathon Canada Limited (Marathon) intends to drill one to two wells located in Exploration License Block EL2377. Block EL2377 is 168,737 hectares (416,957 acres) in area and is located approximately 177 km (110 miles) offshore the Scotian Slope south of
Sable Island. The water depth within the block varies from approximately 377 metres to over 3,250 metres. Drilling is expected to commence in the Spring of 2003, depending on drilling rig availability.
Marathon seeks qualified companies for the provision of Open Hole and Cased Hole Logging along with other wireline services for its upcoming deepwater drilling project offshore Nova Scotia. In addition to personnel, the services will include the
provision of logging tools that must include natural gamma ray and spectral gamma ray, density, neutron, resistivity, dipole sonic, caliper (minimum 4-arm), sidewall coring tools (rotary and percussion types), check shot and/or VSP tools, formation
testers (samples and pressures) and borehole imaging tools (suitable for synthetic oil based and/or water based drilling fluids). In addition, companies will be required to supply pipe recovery tools. Interested parties are required to have shop
facilities in the Metro-Halifax area.
This scope pertains to activities undertaken by Marathon as the Operator of EL2377, EL2410 and EL2411 and may span over the term of EL2377 (Term I). It also applies to other exploration activities that may be conducted by Marathon as the Operator on new
lands resulting from a Call for Bids or the acquisition of lands from other Operators. Further, Marathon's contracts will contain a right of assignment clause in order to facilitate shared services with other Operators.
Interested parties must have health, safety and environmental management and quality management systems which meet all requirements of the Canada Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board (CNSOPB). Respondents must indicate company name, contact details,
managers and key personnel as well as a company profile. Further, interested parties should demonstrate their capabilities by submitting relevant background information and a summary of related experience. Marathon will select qualified bidders from
among the respondents to this EOI.
