Marathon Canada Limited (Marathon) intends to drill one to two wells located in Exploration License Block EL2377. Block EL2377 is 168,737 hectares (416,957 acres) in area and is located approximately 177 km (110 miles) offshore the Scotian Slope south of
Sable Island. The water depth within the block varies from approximately 377 metres to over 3,250 metres. Drilling is expected to commence in the Spring of 2003, depending on drilling rig availability.
Marathon seeks qualified companies for the provision or construction of DNV certified Drill Cuttings Containers to DNV standard 2.7.1. These containers must be compatible with vacuum collection systems and to the primary companies who provide offshore
mud solids control equipment and drill cuttings collection services. Marathon anticipates the number of cuttings boxes that will be required to be between 25 and 75 and that different quantities would be placed on rental for between 30 and 90 days.
This scope pertains to activities undertaken by Marathon as the Operator of EL2377, EL2410 and EL2411 and may span over the term of the EL2377 (Phase 1). It also applies to other exploration activities that may be conducted by Marathon as the Operator on
new lands resulting from a Call for Bids or the acquisition of lands from other Operators.
Further, Marathon's contracts will contain a right of assignment clause in order to facilitate shared services with other Operators. Marathon will endeavor to optimize efficiencies and operations, and subject to appropriate commercial arrangements, it
may be the intent to share these services with EnCana Corporation and other Operators active in the offshore.
Interested parties must have health, safety and environmental management and quality management systems which meet all requires of the Canada Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board (CNSOPB). Respondents must indicate company name, contact details, managers
and key personnel, company profile. Further, interested parties should demonstrate their capabilities by submitting relevant background and a summary of related experience. Marathon will select qualified bidders from among the respondents to this
EOI.
