Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company, a business unit of El Paso Energy Corporation (NYSE:EPG), and Marathon Oil Company, a unit of USX Corporation (NYSE:MRO), are undertaking a study to determine the feasibility of constructing a major new pipeline system to
transport natural gas supplies between Nova Scotia, Canada and the northeastern regions of the United States.
Expressions Of Interest are being invited to select an Environmental Consultant (Consultant) to complete the environmental activities for the Blue Atlantic Pipeline Study. The project is located within the boundaries and legal jurisdictions of two
countries, and thus separate scopes of work apply to each. Separate permitting processes will be required. Proposals may be submitted for 1) the Canada/Nova Scotia pipeline segment, and/or 2) the U.S. pipeline segment, but each portion should be
addressed separately. A "team" approach involving both a Canadian/Nova Scotian and a U.S. firm will also be considered
EOI's should identify the management and technical team responsible for completing the work, and an inventory of similar work and experience. Consultants must display health, safety, and environmental management and quality management systems which meet
all requirements of Company and applicable jurisdictional regulations.
The offshore origin was chosen from the point of origin located about 30 nautical miles southwest of Sable Island in about 100 m of water. The current route proceeds to Nova Scotia (south western vicinity) then onwards to U.S. jurisdictional waters to
Long Island, New York.
