Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company, a business unit of the El Paso Corporation (NYSE:EPG) and Marathon Oil Company, a unit of the USX Corporation (NYSE:MRO), are formulating a project team to commence route selection, preliminary engineering design, and
permit preparation of a new natural gas pipeline between offshore Nova Scotia, Canada and the northeastern regions of the United States (Blue Atlantic Pipeline Project).
Expressions of Interest are being requested to select a Consultant to provide project management and engineering services to prepare the appropriate Canadian and US permit applications for the proposed gas pipeline project. The project is located within
the boundaries and legal jurisdictions of Canada and the United States, and thus separate permitting processes will be required. Approvals will be solicited from Canada's NEB and CNSOPB and the United States' FERC, as well as other appropriate regulatory
agencies. The project team will most likely be formed of firms from both Canada/Nova Scotia and the U.S. Under separate issuance is an EOI for environmental activities associated with this project.
EOI's should identify the management and technical personnel who would be performing the work, as well as an inventory of similar work and experience. Consultants must display health, safety, and environmental management and quality management systems
which meet all requirements of Company and applicable jurisdictional regulations.
The offshore origin for the proposed 36", 750-mile pipeline is about 30 nautical miles southwest of Sable Island in about 100 m of water. The pipeline will proceed to Nova Scotia (southwestern vicinity) for landfall and then continue to the U.S.
jurisdictional waters and Long Island, New York.
