Marathon Canada Limited. seeks qualified companies for the provision of Drilling Fluids Supply & Services for its upcoming deepwater drilling project offshore Nova Scotia. Nova Scotia. The project, which is subject to final approval, will consist of a
single exploration well, with potential sidetracking opportunities once the well logs are evaluated. The project is estimated to commence between July 2001 and July 2002. The service will include the provision of all materials required to maintain
drilling fluid properties as specified by Marathon Canada Limited. In addition, interested parties will provide personnel trained and experienced in deepwater operations to test and monitor the drilling fluid properties at the rig site. Interested
parties will provide bulk loading facilities at either the supplier's own dock or at a site to be determined and will be required to warehouse materials at either one of the aforementioned locations. A qualified drilling fluids laboratory must be
maintained in the Metro-Halifax area.
Drilling fluid additives and testing procedures shall meet the relevant API specifications. The well drilled could be expected to reach 6000 m in depth, with bottom hole temperatures of 121 C (250 F) and a mud density up to 1342 kg/m3 (11.2 ppg).
Qualified companies must be able to supply and service water based, low toxic mineral oil and synthetic based muds.
Interested parties must have health, safety, and environmental management and quality management systems which meet all requirements of Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board (CNSOPB). Respondents must indicate company name, contact details, managers
and key personnel, company profile, and summary of related deepwater experience. Marathon Canada Limited. will select qualified bidders from among the respondents to this EOI.
