Marathon Canada Limited (Marathon), as the Operator, and its partners propose to drill one or more exploration wells located in the Exploration License Area Block EL 2377 (Annapolis). The project is estimated to commence between July 2001 and July 2002.
In connection therewith, Marathon seeks the services of a qualified and experienced contractor interested in preparation of an Environmental Assessment for submission pursuant to the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act (CEAA) and the Drilling Program
Approval (DPA) Application review process under the Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board Resources Accord Implementation (Nova Scotia) Act. The successful contractor will (1) integrate Marathon's proposed drilling plan and a benthic habitat study
(completed by others), with appropriate technical literature, (2) determine the appropriate Valued Environmental Components, (3) estimate the net post-mitigation impact(s) on each VEC, and (4) summarize proposed mitigation measures. Specifically excluded
from this scope of work are preparation of (1) oil spill response plan, and (2) oil-based mud procedure.
Interested parties are encouraged to review "CNSOPB Guidelines Respecting Drilling Programs in the Nova Scotia Offshore Area" and "CEAA Preparation and Management of Comprehensive Studies Under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act Training Manual."
