Marathon Canada Limited seeks a qualified individual and/or a company for the provision of offshore environmental observer services during the drilling of its exploration well offshore Nova Scotia. The information collected will be used to establish
baseline data for the area. The drilling of this well is estimated to commence in the fourth quarter of 2001.
The Offshore Environmental Observer duties and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Observation and recording of marine mammal and bird sightings
- Liaison with the fishing industry prior to, during and upon completion of drilling
- Monitoring of site interactions with fishing vessels
- Assisting with the communication to fishing vessels in the area
- Recording weather observations as requested
- Maintaining a log of observations and preparation of a written summary to the Company Representative on the drilling installation
- Preparation of a final report for the Company.
The Offshore Environmental Observer must have current safety training, including Basic Survival Training, H2S Awareness Training, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System and Basic First Aid. Any additional required specialized training will be
arranged and paid for by Marathon.
Interested parties must have health, safety, and environmental management and quality management systems which meet all requirements of Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board (CNSOPB). Respondents must indicate company name, contact details,
managers and key personnel, company profile, and summary of related experience. Marathon Canada Limited will select qualified bidders from among the respondents to this Expressions of Interest.
