Marathon Canada Limited (Marathon), seeks qualified companies for the provision of an "Environmental Assessment for Seismic Activities (EA) for its deepwater Nova Scotia licenses EL 2410 and 2411. The EA is to be completed early in the first quarter 2002
in support of planned 3D seismic acquisition activity later during 2002. It is anticipated the EA will rely upon existing regional and area-specific information available from public sources, as well as site specific and other technical information to be
provided by Marathon.
Companies responding to this request for EOI are required to provide information pertaining to the following:
- Previous experience conducting EA's for seismic acquisition
- Experience with offshore environmental assessments in Atlantic Canada
- Experience with and knowledge of offshore activities in the deepwater Nova Scotia region
- Familiarity with CNSOPB Environmental Assessment requirements for seismic activity
- Familiarity with the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act
- Appropriate company profile information, including personnel, relevant background information, office and personnel location(s)
In addition, Marathon may further expand the scope of this Environmental Assessment project to include other environmental assessments on these and other exploration licenses, including but not limited to, Geotechnical Project Environmental Assessment,
and Benthic Habitat Environmental Assessment. As a consequence, respondents are requested to also submit the following information:
- Experience in the design, execution and data analysis for offshore benthic surveys
- Experience with conducting environmental assessments for geotechnical programs
- Experience with environmental assessments for offshore drilling operations
This scope also applies to other exploration activities that may be conducted by Marathon as the Operator on new lands resulting from a Call for Bids or the acquisition of lands from other Operators. Further, Marathon's contract will contain a right of
assignment clause in order to facilitate shared services with other Operators. Marathon will endeavor to optimize efficiencies and operations, and subject to appropriate commercial arrangements, it may be the intent to share these services with other
Operators active in the offshore.
