Marathon Canada Limited (Marathon) seeks qualified companies for the provision of a dynamically-positioned semi-submersible drilling rig or drillship relative to a one or two well deepwater drilling program in offshore Nova Scotia Exploration License
2377. The drilling unit should be capable of operating in water depths of up to 2500m. The project, which is subject to final Marathon and partner approval, is expected to commence in the spring of 2003; target commencement date is April 1, 2003.
Interested parties must have health, safety, and environmental management and quality management systems that meet all requirements of Marathon and Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board (CNSOPB). To the extent applicable, if non-resident in Canada,
interested parties must become familiar with employment authorizations for foreign workers, Goods and Services Tax (GST) / Harmonized Sales Tax (HST), non-resident withholding, and foreign vessel importation regulations.
Responses to this EOI must not include brochures, financial reports, safety handbooks, or similar documentation. Responses must be limited to one to three pages and be provided via e-mail or facsimile. Respondents must indicate company name, e-mail
address, and other contact details, provide a brief company profile, and provide a summary listing of managers, key personnel, and related experience as well as information pertaining to the following:
- list of semi-submersible and ship-shape rigs which may be available in the spring of 2003
- for each such unit:
- location, schedule, and client - current
- immediately preceeding spring 2003
- identification of marine riser, draw works, wellhead connector, blowout preventer, cement unit, and mudlogging unit.
- helideck capacity
- personnel capacity
- experience in Nova Scotia relative to
- crewing
- catering
- medical services
- customs agency services
- chandlering and marine agency services
Marathon will select qualified bidders from among the respondents to this EOI. The successful bidder to any tender package that may be issued pursuant to this EOI will be required to provide benefits information in a timely manner in accordance with
industry practice. The contract resulting from such tender will contain a right of assignment clause in order to facilitate shared services with other Operators. Marathon will endeavor to optimize efficiencies and operations, and subject to appropriate
commercial arrangements, it may be the intent to share these services with other Operators active in the offshore.
